I’m sure that the XML.com: Introducing OpenLaszlo article is worth a read and for someone who has never seen what you can do with Laszlo and Flex, it will probably be a great surprise to see how sexy your Java webapp interfaces can become. Personally I have already had a chance to evaluate Flex and OpenLaszlo and back then I was sure that they were going to hit it big time. That just never happened. Why is that? I guess a big reason is that it’s a java technology and requires a servlet engine. It basically rules out any revolution amongst the internet guys who prefer more easily hosted solutions such as PHP and nowadays RoR. Within companies it should however have a chance, but even there I haven’t seen a big breakthrough. Could that be because enterprise developers don’t dig pretty interfaces?
